Compassion Means Just As Much As Passion

It’s amazing just how many selfish and self-centered people there are in the world today. This is a fact that’s never clearer than when you are in a relationship with one of them. That’s right; that person that was once the love of your life turns out to be one of the most non-compassionate individuals you’ve ever laid your eyes on. The only thing that may come as a bigger shock to people is when they’ve got a partner that cheats on them because that’s something else that most people never see coming until it’s staring them in the face.
Passion is a major factor when it comes to romantic relationships. There have been many relationships that have simply fizzled out due to the lack of passion within it. So, yes, passion is vital in any relationship that hopes to have a prayer of making it. On the other hand, compassion means just as much in a relationship as passion. This is a word that means you and your partner have the ability to care about how each of you feel when it comes to events that happen in life.

Compassion Means Just As Much As Passion

For example, suppose that you and your partner have been planning to attend this huge Super Bowl party for over a month. Then, on the morning of the big day, you wake up with a raging fever, cough, and laryngitis. You’re so weak from the fever that you can barely move let alone get up and fix yourself some honey tea and toast. Now, a COMPASSIONATE partner would make sure that you stay put right in bed where you need to be. Then, he goes to the kitchen, brews your honey tea and serves it to you in bed. He makes a quick check of the medicine cabinet to see what he needs to buy from the drugstore for you, makes sure you’re all settled, and then goes off to load up on flu and cold remedies.
By the time he returns home, it’s getting very close to the time of the party. You tell him that he should go anyway even though you’re sick. A COMPASSIONATE partner will insist on skipping the party in favor of staying at home and looking after you. It’s not like you just have the sniffles. He wants to be sure that you’re well cared for, get plenty of fluids without having to fix them yourself, and that he’s close by in case you get worse.

A self-centered and selfish partner will gather up whatever flu medications you have on hand and put them on your nightstand with a cup of water that he poured from the bathroom sink. If all you’ve got is ibuprofen, that’s what he’ll put on your nightstand. He’ll sleep right up to about an hour before he’s due at the party, shower, get dressed, and off he’ll go. You could die while he’s gone and he wouldn’t know until he’s returned.

It’s pretty simple to see why compassion is vital to a successful relationship. There has to be caring involved. If there isn’t, then you’re truly wasting your time and need to move on.

This article Compassion Means Just As Much As Passion really put the focus on the most important thing both in a successful relationship and in every area of your life where you will succed. Unfortunately many people loose their passion going through disappointment and having a hard time. We need to get ourselves together again in mind and soul so we can recognition and honour love in life. Both the Universal Love to everything and the personal love to our partner, kids and close friends. To care and to share are really essential and should be two of our core values in life/Dick Scott

Article 3 In a Series of Articles on How To Go On A Cheap Date

Enjoy the Great Outdoors

There are so many free and low cost activities available when you want to enjoy the great outdoors.  Couple any of the following activities with a picnic lunch, and you’ve got a date that can last from 4 to 10 hours.

For instance, take a Frisbee to the park.    Toss it around before breaking out the picnic lunch.  Then, after you’ve eaten, spend some more time with the plastic disc.

Touch football is a contact sport.  Gotta love that on a date!  Or, play some one on one basketball.  If that’s too much exercise, opt for p.i.g. instead.

Bike riding is a popular date idea.  You can ride to a beautiful destination such as a waterfall and have lunch there.  Then ride home.  A variation on this theme is to rent a bicycle built for two (tandem bike) for the date.

Rollerblading on the boardwalk can be lots of fun if you have any balance at all.  You can either go hand in hand or race each other to a destination.

Ice Skating can be fun in the great outdoors during the winter season and can even be enjoyed in the summer if you have an indoor arena.  Again, people who have done this before tend to have a better time on a first date!

Take to the water.  Going fishing or boating can provide a relaxing way to get to know someone while offering something to do with one’s hands.

In the summer, grab some inner tubes and float down a river.

Fill up some water balloons and have a messy fight (gals, wear a white t-shirt for added impact!)  In the winter, a snow ball fight serves the same purpose.  And, wintertime also brings on the possibility of building the biggest, best snowman in the neighborhood.

In many personal ads, people say they want to find someone to take “midnight strolls on the beach” with.  But how many people actually do this?  Surprise your date with an evening trip to the nearest body of water for a romantic walk.

Take a Class

If you really want to spend some time with a person, consider signing up for a class together.  A class can consist of a one afternoon demonstration on how to make sushi to a year long language course at the university.

Perhaps one of the most romantic date classes is dance lessons.  When you learn to dance, you have years of great dates ahead of you.  You can choose whatever kind of dancing is interesting to the two of you, but ballroom, tango, and salsa dancing are definitely the kinds of classes where “it takes two.”

How To Go On A Cheap Date

You may be interested in cooking classes.  Generally cooking classes are one to four sessions in length, so you will not be committing to a long period of time.  Also, there are a variety of kinds of cooking classes from helping you develop basic cooking skills to advanced sessions on specific kinds of cooking.  Some classes are taught by professional cooks in their kitchens.  Others are sponsored by restaurants or gourmet supermarkets.  There are also cooking classes at junior colleges and community centers.

Community colleges have semester and half semester long classes on a whole variety of liberal arts subjects that don’t cost much money.  In California, for instance, a 45 hour literature course costs less than $100 plus text books.  You can take classes in comparative religion, creative writing, psychology, or any other subject that sparks your interest.  Maybe the most romantic class you can take is a romance language.  Wouldn’t you like to be able to say “I love you” in Italian?

University extension centers have non-credit courses as well.  Some of these mirror the content of a normal university course without the homework.  Others are related to helping you develop professional skills.  But some, are just for fun.  For instance the University of California at Berkeley has an extension series in wine appreciation.  And, Harvard’s extension program offers classes in Folklore and Mythology, Hindi, and Film.

Your Park and Recreation or Community Center probably also offers a range of classes you can take for fun.  The Austin, TX Parks and Rec department offers month long classes (once a week) in subjects as varied as sculpture, photography, and short film.

If you are thinking about getting married, a personal finance class could help you bridge the ways you think about money and help you build a more secure future.

One kind of class that could pay dividends is a couple’s massage class.  This is one class where you won’t mind doing your “homework.”

When you learn together, you grow together as a couple.  Signing up for classes together provides a series of inexpensive and enriching dates. Next article on How To Go On A Cheap Date will be tomorrow.

Best Ways To Get Her Back Quiz: Mending My Broken Heart

It is Okay to Mourn

Grief requires mourning.  Give yourself permission to get over the relationship.  Call in sick to work if you need to.

Write a letter to your ex spilling out all of the hurt you have.  It is okay for this letter to run pages and pages long.  But don’t send it.  Instead, when you have poured out your heart on paper, burn it.  This will help you bring closure to the relationship.

You may also want to create a “divorce ceremony” to help you bring closure to the relationship.  Just as the bride and groom take two separately lit candles and together light a unity candle to signify their new union at a wedding, you can create a divorce ceremony that signifies your new single state.  Your ex may wish to join you in this ceremony or you can do it yourself.

Congratulate Yourself on Being Human

Part of being human is experiencing the hurts of everyday life.  Life hurts – but there are great parts too.  Acknowledging that there is both pain and joy in life will help you appreciate the human experience more.

You may want to develop a helpful mantra to help you get through this stage in your life.  A mantra is a mind tool which is used like a barbell for the mind.  You repeat a short phrase frequently to help you develop that mindset.  You might say “I am a lovable person” to yourself with a great frequency – especially when you are feeling unlovable.

During this time, you should reach out to a close friend or family member for support.  Your ex was a big part of your support system prior to the break up.  Because he is no longer there, you need to strengthen the other facets of the support system you have in place.

You also need to remember what is good about you.  Make a list of the things you offer a potential partner.  If you are loving, giving, and an easy conversationalist, dwell on these things rather than the fact that your ex didn’t want you anymore.

Also, remember that it’s not always about you.  Your ex had other things going on in his life that were independent of whatever you brought to the relationship.  When he said “it’s not you, it’s me,” maybe it was.

Finally, honor how you are feeling.  Don’t dismiss your emotions quickly just because they are uncomfortable.  Part of being human is to have these hard emotions.  They help you grow.
